DDN Customizes to Bring New Product to Market

“Thanks to all of you for your great work on getting [the product] launched! It’s so exciting to see this product reach commercialization.”

– Diana Davidson
Senior Director of Marketing

The manufacturer of a new pharmaceutical product with a pediatric indication has licensed the U.S. launch, storage, sales, and distribution to another company. It will be the first branded launch for a company currently marketing generics. Shipping the product will require development of specialized packaging and handling

  • Although stored at room temperature, the compressed-gas product must be shipped in packaging that maintains product temperature within a particular range
  • Serving the company will require collaboration with the manufacturer to ensure that all handling requirements are fulfilled

The company tapped DDN’s extensive experience with product launches and specialized handling requirements to bring the product to market

  • The customized project plan included sourcing specialized shipping supplies including ice bricks to regulate product temperature and partnering with the client to develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) for packout
  • DDN also became responsible for warehousing, the customer service function, invoicing, and chargebacks
  • DDN worked to ensure the product bore the proper shipping classification (Hazardous/ORMD) and that all associated protocol were followed
  • DDN trained its staff on packout SOPs and restructured its shipping lines so that ambient product could easily be shipped according to special requirements
  • Upon the company’s request, DDN conducted a test shipment to demonstrate the integrity of the shipping process
  • During the launch phase, DDN processed all orders as drop-ships to the end users, which then were billed to the wholesalers unless direct accounts had been established

Trade orders were shipped on the dates expected with no issues or delays

  • DDN continues to handle the company’s needs for this product and others
